Field Trip Volunteering Training Workshop

Clayton County Conservation

Clayton County Conservation is currently recruiting volunteers who are interested in assisting with our upcoming field trip season! We are offering the field trip volunteer training day in the morning 9 AM - 11 AM & afternoon 1 PM - 3 PM of April 15th, 2024, at the Osborne Nature Center. If you are interested in becoming a field trip volunteer, you only need to attend either the morning or the afternoon session, not both.

This is a great opportunity for those who enjoy teaching, love the outdoors, are passionate about environmental education & working with children. Typically, once volunteers feel comfortable working independently, they will lead a group of the field trip on nature hikes, walks through the native animal exhibit, & tours through the pioneer village.

Our field trip season starts mid-April and goes on until June. During this time frame we typically have 3-5 field trips at Osborne each week (M-F). We plan to create an online sign up where we will post the field trips we could use volunteers for.

If you are interested in volunteering and would like to attend the training workshop, please email epopenhagen@claytoncountyia.gov or call 563-245-1516 to let us know you plan to attend!
